Lake Monsters Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
The Brinkley Belugas did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters at Monster Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Jean-François Chapon, who captured player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Chapon, now 6-7. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. With the win over Vermont, the Belugas improved to 42-35.
Also making an impact was designated hitter Tom Christensen, who drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the third for Brinkley. For the game, Christensen went 1-4 with a double.
"I was a little disappointed," said Vermont manager Mike Cunningham. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
