Humpbacks Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Humpbacks faced a stiff challenge from Wilmington pitcher Seong-rae Park, but persevered to claim a win at Ballpark of Wilmington. The final score was 4-1. Park went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Alaskan reliever Wing-tat Ke got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Dan Drew was tagged with the loss. Iemochi Tsuchiya closed the game out for Alaskan, earning his 2nd save.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Tommy Stanley came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Wilmington pitcher Dan Drew, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a 2-run double. It was a game-changer, putting Alaskan on top, 3-1.
In postgame remarks, Stanley simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
With the win over Wilmington, the Humpbacks improved to 34-43.
