Santa Barbara Golden Cranes starter Marvin Mangin pitched a strong game against the Brinkley Belugas at Crane Field, leading the Golden Cranes to a 7-2 win. Mangin was the winning pitcher and moves to 4-5. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. The Golden Cranes move to 34-32 with the win, while the Belugas drop to 34-32.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Job Pels was at the plate when Santa Barbara scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Golden Cranes to go in front, 3-2.
"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Mangin.
