Despite a fine performance by catcher Jesús Vásquez, the Sioux Falls Red Pandas suffered a 5-4 loss to the Hamilton Coyotes. Vásquez was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Hamilton reliever Martin Bennett picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mark Sanders took the loss. John Riggleman got credit for the save for Hamilton. It was his 7th of the year.

Also having an impact was right fielder Henry Mann, who stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth for Hamilton. For the game, Mann was 2-4 with a double.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Hamilton Coyotes manager Frank Phillips. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

The 9th-place Coyotes now have a win-loss record of 26-37.
