Golden Cranes Take Down Disaster, 4-2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 24-year old center fielder Pepe Castroneves, the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes stymied the Port Royal Disaster, 4-2. The winner was Marvin Mangin, who threw 104 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits. With the win over Port Royal, the Golden Cranes improved to 29-28.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the top of the sixth, when Castroneves hit a run-scoring single. The Golden Cranes went on to win.
"I thought we played a nice game," Castroneves told the Santa Barbara News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
