Belugas Win Again, Extend Streak to 8
|
In a tight game between the Brinkley Belugas and the Wilmington Bay Hawks, pitcher Myles Wilkerson was terrific on the mound. The Brinkley left-hander was named the player of the game in Brinkley's 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Wilkerson, now 7-7. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Ramón García picked up the save, his 12th.
The Belugas got a big at-bat from Jason Weston. For the game, Weston was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Brinkley a 3-0 lead.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Brinkley manager Junior Benítez.
The Brinkley winning streak has now reached 8 games.
