Disaster Suffer 6-4 Loss to Humpbacks
|
Alaskan right fielder Ramón Valdéz was instrumental in his team's 6-4 win over the Port Royal Disaster. Valdéz went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Humpbacks. Colijn de Goedere was the winner. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 11 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Jim Unknown closed the game out for Alaskan, earning his 1st save.
Valdéz contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Alaskan in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Valdéz took a fastball from Dennis Brown and stroked the double to left. His 5th double of the season allowed the Humpbacks to leap in front, 3-2.
In postgame remarks, Valdéz said: "We put it together today and came out with the win -- that's the main thing."
