Thrilling Victory Pushes Smoke Win Streak to 6
Atlanta and Northern Virginia duked it out at Ballpark of Northern Virginia and the Smoke came out victorious.

Northern Virginia got a terrific performance from shortstop Munemori Ohara, but it wasn't enough to beat the Atlanta Smoke. Atlanta won the Ballpark of Northern Virginia contest, 6-5. Ohara was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Atlanta reliever Royce Bradshaw picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Harold Elkins shouldered the loss.

Luis Costello had the most critical at-bat for Atlanta, coming in the top of the tenth inning with two out and a runner on 2nd. Costello hit a 1-0 changeup from Harold Elkins for a run-scoring double. It put Atlanta in front, 6-5.

In postgame comments to the Atlanta Herald, Costello said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Atlanta has now won 6 straight.
