Vermont beat Sioux Falls at Monster Field, escaping with a 6-4 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Tim Hill, who earned player of the game honors. He went 1-2 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bill Lee picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-0. Dave Goode was tagged with the loss. The third-place Lake Monsters have won 6 in a row.
Hill had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch sinker from Dave Goode, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Lake Monsters a 5-4 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Hill.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Hill.
