Extra-Inning Win by Dodos over Disaster
|
The Dodos had to overcome a fine performance from Port Royal pitcher Carl Snyder to grab a 4-3 win at Dodos Ballpark. Snyder went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The winner was Hialeah reliever Travis Grant, now 1-0. The loser was Carl Snyder. It was the 11th win in 17 games this year for the defending champion Dodos, who are picking up where they left off.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Craig Stewart came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Port Royal pitcher Carl Snyder, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hialeah on top, 4-3.
"It was a test of wills," said Tom Hollingsworth, the Hialeah skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
