Athletic Club KC Win at Boston, 5-4
|
The Athletic Club KC and Boston Patriots obliged those fans who came to Dunkin Donuts Park hoping for an exciting game.
Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Lúcio Sánchez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Athletic Club KC. Athletic Club KC won the Dunkin Donuts Park contest, 5-4. Sánchez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Gene Kirkland finished to wrap up his 4th save.
In the top of the 7th, center fielder David Henderson gave Athletic Club KC the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Athletic Club KC had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out home run off Boston pitcher Robinson Gonzáles changed that -- and Athletic Club KC went on to win.
"We found a way to get it done," Henderson said.
The 5th-place Athletic Club KC raised their record to 13-15.
