Red Pandas Fall Short, 7-4, at Hamilton
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas got a sterling performance from first baseman Armando Becerra, but the Coyotes still prevailed, 7-4. Becerra was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Hamilton reliever Roger Shaw was the winner. His record is now 1-0. José Hernández took the loss. Earning his 4th save of the year was Martin Bennett.
In the bottom of the 6th, shortstop Monty Sharp gave Hamilton the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Coyotes had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off Sioux Falls pitcher Jesús Rivera changed that -- and Hamilton went on to win.
"This team is real focused right now," said Hamilton Coyotes manager Frank Phillips.
With their winning streak at 7, the Hamilton Coyotes have raced to a strong start this season.
