Nuclear Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Scranton Supernovas. The contest featured a prime matchup between Mario González of the visiting Sioux Falls Red Pandas and Roberto Calderón of the Supernovas. The final score was 4-3, the Red Pandas getting the win. Earning player of the game honors was Roberto Calderón. Sioux Falls reliever Tomás Galván was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Bernardo Valdés. Shao-qi Phan closed it out for his 1st save.
Mario Piña's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a curveball from Bernardo Valdés for a run-scoring triple. It put Sioux Falls in front, 4-3.
"I really like what we did out there today," Piña said after the game.
