Las Vegas and Chicago duked it out at Hawks Ballpark and the Flamingos came out victorious.
Las Vegas right-hander Melvin Haney made an effective start against the Chicago Hawks at Hawks Ballpark, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Haney was the winning pitcher and moves to 2-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 2 walks.
The Flamingos got a big at-bat from Jake Shelton. For the game, Shelton went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Las Vegas a 2-0 lead.
"I like our mindset right now," said Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban.
The Hawks have now dropped 5 straight.
