Whalers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Red Knights
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Emílio Sáenz, the Hartford Whalers defeated the Capital District Red Knights, 8-7. Sáenz went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI for the Whalers. With the win, Hartford improves its record to 2-1.

The most important at-bat came in the top of the 13th inning. With two out, Ánibal Rivera threw a 2-2 changeup to Sáenz, which he hit to left for a run-scoring double. It put Hartford in front, 8-7.

"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager John Bosma.
