Sánchez Batters Asheville Big Time Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Roberto Sánchez -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Chesapeake Grounds and paced the Continentals to a 14-2 win over the Asheville Highlanders. After his dynamite batting performance the Chesapeake first baseman told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Roberto Sánchez singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Romano Martínez in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Carlos Alou in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. |
