5-for-6 Game for Hartnett Monday, July 3rd, 2023 After the Athletic Club KC 18-6 victory over Naperville and his 5-hit day left fielder Matt Hartnett told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special." The 26-year-old player gained that distinction today at Constellation Ballpark with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Naperville Battlekings. The skipper of the Reserves spoke glowingly of Hartnett, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Matt did that to perfection today." Matt Hartnett doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Plinio Pedrulho in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 9th and flied out in the 9th. Presently Hartnett is hitting .276 with 4 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 49 games and scored 33 times. |
