Phoenix Star, Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner Monday, September 25th, 2023 He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Santiago Alonza performed like a veteran on the hill for the Phoenix Hotspur U-21 and walked away with the USSL Single A Outstanding Pitcher Award in the process. The 19-year-old Hotspur U-21 star fashioned a 11-4 won-loss record in 2023 with a 1.96 ERA. In 151.2 innings of work and 21 starts, Alonza struck out 159 while giving up 119 hits and 39 walks. He held opposing batters to a .212 average. Gonzalo Montés of the Syracuse Storm finished second in voting, while Alejandro Ramos of the Connetquot Chiefs finished third. |
