Big Day with Bat: López 5-for-5 Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 History in the making. That's what the fans at Springfield Stadium got to see today, when Myrtle Beach outplayed the Shooters 13-11. Alfredo López of the Mermen came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Springfield. In the postgame press conference the Springfield skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." Alfredo López hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Johnny Wheeler in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 10th. This season López has hit at a .276 clip and produced 22 RBI, 5 home runs and 17 runs. |
