5-Hit Blitz by Pérez Thursday, July 21st, 2022 José Carlos Pérez exploded for a barrage of base hits today at The Cocoon. The Bellevue catcher had a field day in the 9-7 triumph over the Grand Forks Caterpillars, finishing 5-for-7. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Pérez must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. José Carlos Pérez singled in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit a two-run home run off Juan Costello in the 9th, struck out in the 11th and singled in the 14th. This year Pérez is hitting .289, produced 32 RBIs and 5 home runs, scored 20 times and gotten on base at a .331 rate. |
