Hits Blitz for Cauldrons Sánchez Wednesday, July 20th, 2022 Fernando Sánchez produced one of the rarest feats in baseball today when he hit for the cycle against the Provo Mango in the Hogsmeade 10-3 win at Gators Ballpark. Afterward, Sánchez acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but he was more interested in helping the Cauldrons just win some ballgames. At the postgame press conference, he said, "Maybe one day I'll look back on this day with more meaning, but right now I just want to come out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball, get a few hits and help my club win another game." On his historic day, he went 4-for-5 with 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the league record books. Maybe one day way down the road he will get out the record book and reminisce about his extra special day in baseball. Fernando Sánchez struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Odemar Ouweneel in the 7th and doubled in the 8th. Sánchez currently has a .242 batting average with 55 hits, 4 homers, 37 RBIs, 24 runs scored and a .296 OBP. |
