Russell 5-for-5 Against Shooters Thursday, June 24th, 2021 It seemed that Mercer Island right fielder Mike Russell could do no wrong as the Screaming Eagles kayoed the Shooters 17-4 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Springfield pitchers couldn't get him out as Russell seemed to know which pitches they were throwing. "I think the Screaming Eagles were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Springfield fan. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Russell in the postgame press interview. Mike Russell hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. So far this season Russell has put up a .292 batting average with 33 hits, 2 home runs and 14 RBIs. |
