Gómez Fires No-Hitter Against Put-In-Bay Friday, June 18th, 2021 Excitement reigned at the ballyard today as Hammond hurler David Gómez tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter. After defeating the Put-In-Bay BC at The Heron Refuge 1-0 he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments. "I'm just glad to be here. I want to help the club any way I can. Today I just went right at the Put-In-Bay as hard as I could, as long as I could." Gómez chalked up 8 strikeouts and allowed 4 walks in his superb performance. The Hammond manager had his own analysis of the ballgame: "I don't think they could have hit him with a howitzer today."
