Nebraska's Jones Gets Shocking News -- Career Likely Over
Saturday, May 15th, 2021
The Nebraska Plainsmen have announced the retirement of shortstop Robert Jones. The news, while disappointing, does not come as a complete surprise. Jones has been out of action with a torn labrum. He recently said that it had put his baseball future "seriously in doubt." All doubt is now removed: he has chosen to retire from the sport. The 21-year-old Jones will have more to say about his decision when he meets with the media later this afternoon.

For the season Jones is currently batting .295 with no home runs and 6 RBIs. In 11 games he has reached base at a .304 rate and scored 2 runs to date.
