McLaughlin Goes 5-for-6 Saturday, August 21st, 2021 Wilfred McLaughlin told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard." Well, that's just what McLaughlin of the Boston Patriots did against the Atlanta Smoke. He went to the plate 6 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Smoke, who suffered a 13-1 defeat. "Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us." Wilfred McLaughlin singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. In the current season, McLaughlin has put up a .303 batting average with 101 hits, 16 home runs, 61 runs batted in and scored 56 runs. |
