Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Saturday, July 18th, 2020
One player challenged the other with some angry words at the Fur Traders-Rapiers game at Ballpark of Tacoma yesterday. There was some pushing and shoving -- then the dugouts emptied. There was a lot of scuffling, but no punches thrown. When order was finally restored and the dust settled, the umpires ejected Tacoma's Félix Cruz and Durham's R.J. Case.
Now both antagonists will get some time off, courtesy of the league commissioner. They were suspended 3 games for inappropriate and aggressive behavior.
Currently Cruz is batting .212 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.
Taking a look at his season, Case has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 6-6 won-lost mark and a 5.69 ERA. In pitching 80.2 innings, he has totaled 74 strikeouts and 53 walks.
