League Suspends Pérez and Rivas for Fisticuffs
Monday, September 14th, 2020
You would have thought you were at a hockey game yesterday at Jersey City Grounds. A free-for-all broke out when Jesús Pérez of Jersey City and Jorge Rivas of Calgary rushed one another on the field and had to be restrained by umpires and teammates. Few blows landed, but it was enough for them to be ejected from the game.
Today both teams received notification from the league office that the two players would be suspended for 3 games.
So far this season, Pérez has recorded a .279 batting average with 34 hits, 1 home run, 16 RBIs, 15 runs scored and a .362 OBP.
This season Rivas has a 6-8 record with a 4.80 ERA.
