Phoenix Hotspur's Martínez Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Thursday, June 6th, 2019 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. It might come around only once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Martín Martínez got one today. He scattered hits all over Ballpark of Leupp to pace Phoenix Hotspur to a 13-3 victory over Leupp. The Leupp skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Martínez hit several that he is not supposed to hit." Martín Martínez singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. In 23 games Martínez is hitting .237 this season with 22 hits, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs, 2 walks, .260 OBP and has scored 12 runs. |
