Player of the Week: Chesapeake's Nichols Monday, September 23rd, 2019 19-year-old Gil Nichols made a few Chesapeake headlines during this past week as the rookie second baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 13 hits in 23 at-bats to put up a .565 average. Nichols collected no home runs, 3 RBIs and scored 5 runs. Nichols is swinging at a .293 pace on the year with 10 home runs, 49 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 84 games. |
