Grizzlies Rivas No-Hits Rawhides
Friday, September 27th, 2019
No hitters are rare. But the fans at Helena Field received a special gift as Jorge Rivas of the Grizzlies tossed a no-hitter against the Belvedere Park Rawhides. He was masterful as he struck out 13 and walked 1 in a 8-0 Helena victory. In all Rivas faced only 28 batters. Rivas did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, but soon got into a groove and made quick work of the Rawhides. He was helped by several defensive gems along the way.
The Belvedere Park manager said to the press after the no-hitter, "We had our chances in the first few innings, when he was hittable, but he shut us down totally in the last 4-5 innings."
"I had late movement that seemed to cause them a lot of trouble, especially from the fifth inning on," Rivas said to reporters.
His record this season is 7-12 in 23 starts and Rivas has a 4.31 ERA.
