Lugo Hitless, Streak Ends at 21
Monday, August 12th, 2019
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 21-game hitting streak, Rappahannock second baseman Pablo Lugo went hitless in 3 at-bats today in the Partisans 5-2 win over Balboa at Nomads Ballpark.
In a postgame interview, he said, "Nope, not superstitious. Streaks don't last forever. Nobody jinxed me. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
His manager said, "It's not like we could go 21 games without talking to him."
This year Lugo is batting .381 with 32 hits, 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, 6 walks, .422 OBP and has scored 19 runs.
