Mendoza 5-5 for Partisans
Sunday, July 14th, 2019
It was an almost perfect day. Rappahannock first baseman Miguel Mendoza displayed a hot bat today, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day. But something was missing -- the Partisans failed to win -- they lost to the Lévis Rocks 15-9. "Some days, Lady Luck is on your side, some days she's not," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Miguel is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa." The 21-year-old first baseman for the Partisans collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats to get his name in the record book. Miguel Mendoza singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Harvey Richards in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Mendoza has hit 15 home runs and posted a .317 batting average.
