Streak Finally Over, Rush Held Hitless
Tuesday, July 30th, 2019
Clay Rush saw his 21-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Legion 9 4-3 victory over Hartford at Ballpark of San Diego. The 26-year-old left fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by Whalers, but his Kingston Township teammates produced enough offense to garner the win.
Talking to reporters after the game, Rush was upbeat. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit. How could you be unhappy after you have hit in 21 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. And I am really happy that we won another ballgame today. Life is good."
To date Rush has chalked up a .360 average with 7 home runs, driven in 35 runs and scored 44 times.
