Republics Chill Lallanilla's Hot Streak Friday, June 28th, 2019 It was the best of both worlds for the New Amsterdam Republics today at Damned Ballpark as they defeated the Chicago Gold Sox 6-3 and also ended Daniel Lallanilla's 20-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old Chicago left fielder failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Daniel, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Republics skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Lallanilla frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game." Lallanilla is presently hitting at a .381 pace with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and has scored 31 times. |
