Jones Hitless, Stopped by Smoke
Sunday, August 25th, 2019
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 26-game hitting streak, Boston center fielder Tommy Jones went hitless in 4 at-bats today in the Patriots 3-0 win over Atlanta at Smoke Ballpark.

In a postgame interview, he said, "Nope, not superstitious. Streaks don't last forever. Nobody jinxed me. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."

His manager said, "It's not like we could go 26 games without talking to him."

So far this season Jones has hit .446 with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and and scored 36 times.
