Santa Barbara Stops Nabeiro's Hit Streak
Tuesday, July 17th, 2018
Guomez Nabeiro saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Thunder Hawks 4-3 victory over Santa Barbara at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. The 21-year-old third baseman was held hitless in 4 at-bats by Streak, but his Ft. Polk South teammates produced enough offense to garner the win.
Talking to reporters after the game, Nabeiro was upbeat. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit. How could you be unhappy after you have hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. And I am really happy that we won another ballgame today. Life is good."
In 62 games this season Nabeiro has compiled a .349 batting average with 84 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 31 times and knocked in 42 runs.
