Big Day for García: Swats 5 Hits Saturday, May 19th, 2018 Players get multihit games all the time. But a 5-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Colorado Springs Fields when Tony García of Colorado Springs scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Huntington Beach Surf. He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Velocity get by the Surf 11-8. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the second baseman of the Velocity said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." Tony García doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th. García is hitting at a .340 mark this season. His stats show no home runs, 3 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has played 12 games for the Velocity. |
