Burks Torches Surf for 5 Hits
Sunday, June 10th, 2018
After the Atlantic City 7-5 loss to Huntington Beach and his 5-hit day first baseman Kip Burks told reporters, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school, or college ball. Two hits in a game is very good, three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame." The 23-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Huntington Beach Surf. The skipper of the Sonics spoke glowingly of Burks, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Kip did that to perfection today. I just wish some more of our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game." Kip Burks doubled in the 1st,
hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

This year Burks is hitting .325 with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs in 22 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .430 with 11 walks and 14 runs scored.
