27-Game Streak Ends, García Hitless
Tuesday, August 21st, 2018
Rafael García saw his 27-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Loons 6-3 victory over Tremont at Bagley Fields. The 25-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 4 at-bats by Doubledays, but his Bagley teammates produced enough offense to garner the win.
Talking to reporters after the game, García was upbeat. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit. How could you be unhappy after you have hit in 27 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. And I am really happy that we won another ballgame today. Life is good."
To date, García has collected 151 hits for a .380 average. He has posted 12 home runs, scored 67 runs and driven in 67 runs.
