Rowdy Players Suspended by League Monday, August 27th, 2018 Sometimes on the baseball diamond disparaging words are uttered in anger and lead to more than what the players bargained for. That's what happened at yesterday's Alloway Halberds-Port Royal Disaster game at Ballpark of Alloway. What started off as a war of words ended up a tag team match as both clubs rushed on the field to defend their honor. When the umpires sorted it all out, they ejected Alloway's Pedro Orozco and Port Royal's Clyde Bowman from the game for their roles in starting the melee. Today the players were notified by the league office that they had been suspended 5 games for violating league rules. Orozco is hitting .238 this year with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has 77 hits in 324 at-bats, 24 walks and a .310 on-base percentage. Orozco has played in 97 games. Bowman has pitched 8 innings and molded a 6.75 ERA with no saves. He has surrendered 12 hits while registering 5 strikeouts on his way to a 0-0 record for the Disaster this year. |
