Hit Parade: Smeddon Pops 5 Hits Thursday, June 1st, 2017 "It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Alexis Smeddon after his 5-hit performance against the Sixshooters. "No offense meant to Westwood, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Sixshooters Stadium." The Richland shortstop had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and pacing his club to a 12-4 victory. His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Alexis worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits." "That's what I'm trying to do," Smeddon said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Alexis Smeddon flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. To date this season Smeddon is hitting .329 with 1 home run. |
