Martin Belts Bunch of Base Hits Thursday, May 18th, 2017 It was a sensational day at the plate for Scott Martin as he led the charge to a 18-3 win over the Rails. The Durham right fielder was pure misery for the Richland pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. The manager for the Rails told BNN reporters after the game, "Martin put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Scott Martin hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and walked in the 8th. Looking at his present stats, Martin has compiled a .500 batting average in 6 games with a .583 on-base percentage, while hitting no home runs and driving in 5 runs. |
