Smith Smacks 5 Hits for Universe Friday, July 21st, 2017 Universe left fielder David Smith went ballistic today with the bat. He smoked the Deuces for 5 hits and sparked St. Petersburg to a 12-8 win over Virginia Beach at St. Petersburg Grounds. David Smith doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Julián Herrera in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th. In the current season, Smith has put up a .317 batting average with 64 hits, 6 home runs, 31 runs batted in and scored 32 runs. |
