Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for García
Sunday, July 16th, 2017
The Misfits won the game today, but you would have been hard pressed to find anyone talking about it. The focus seemed to be on center fielder Ignacio García extending his hitting streak to 20 games by going 2-for-4 in the game.
"Sure we are happy that we won, but seeing Ignacio extend his streak was also special," said a jubilant Salem manager. "He's a special player who is capable of doing some amazing things at the plate."
For the record, the Misfits defeated the Portsmouth Coasties 3-2 at Rubies Ballpark. Ignacio García struck out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
García is hitting .286 this year with 2 home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 55 hits in 192 at-bats, 15 walks and a .340 on-base percentage. García has played in 45 games.
