Dyer Joins Elite .400 Club
Friday, August 22nd, 2014
His grandfather once told Tony Dyer he should set high goals for himself. The Grafton right fielder has done that throughout his baseball life, beginning as a youngster.
"I hit something like .650 one season when I was a kid," he recalled. "Still, I thought I could have done better."
Now, Dyer has done what few before him have accomplished in United States Premier League: He has become a .400 hitter for a single season. Reflecting on his phenomenal year, with a sly grin, Dyer said, "I think I could have gotten a few more hits."
The Middies star, who finished at .403, collected 176 hits including 33 doubles, 0 triples and 21 home runs. He also had 83 RBIs and scored 91 runs.
