Romero and Ramírez Suspended for Free-for-All
Saturday, August 2nd, 2014
At a recent Middies-Dodgers contest at Field of the Sultans, Guillermo Romero of Grafton took exception to what Ánibal Ramírez of Brooklyn said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players.
Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 15 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct."
So far this year, Romero is batting .274 with 38 home runs and 93 RBIs.
To this point in the season, Ramírez has put up these figures: 7-1 record, 42 relief appearances with 46.1 innings, 1 save, 23 strikeouts, 18 walks and a 2.91 ERA. He has limited other teams to a .236 batting average.
