Rivas Blanks Alabama Thursday, August 1st, 2030 The Grand Rapids Dutch Ovens did little to support starter Germán Rivas against the Alabama Shakes, but it turned out he didn't need the help. The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Shakes, striking out 7 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Rivas allowed Grand Rapids to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense. "Nobody came to me and said 'Germán, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Rivas told BNN reporters following the win.
