Wild Card Clinched by Newport News HS Tuesday, May 14th, 2030 For the Newport News HS Paints, it's not how you start, but how you finish. That's the mantra the team is following after today qualifying for the playoffs. "We may be going into the playoffs as a wild card team, but we plan to finish the playoffs as champions," said catcher Lee Boswell. "There's no shortage of confidence from guys in our clubhouse." With a record of 27-13, there will of course be teams with better track records in the postseason. But team manager Brad Dempsey said his club has "infinite optimism" that they can win the franchise's 1st High School Stars League championship. |
