Martínez Hits in 37 Straight Games Sunday, May 12th, 2030 Valentín Martínez, second baseman for the Bishop Gorman HS Balbasaurs, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 37 games with 2 hits in his club's 8-6 victory today over the John Jay HS Patriots at Classics Ballpark today. "I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Valentín Martínez was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Brad Buck in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. This year Martínez has collected a .433 batting average to date with 68 hits in 157 at-bats, 47 RBIs, 10 home runs and scored 45 times. He has played in 38 games. |
