Martínez Hits in 35 Straight Games
Friday, May 10th, 2030
The Bishop Gorman HS Balbasaurs may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 25-8 to the Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central HS Trojans, but Valentín Martínez continued to hit like a god.
The second baseman collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 35 games.
"Martínez is playing great and is on fire right now," Balbasaurs manager Elijah Davidson said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins."
Martínez was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Valentín Martínez flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Gil LaSalle in the 8th.
Martínez is hitting .432 so far this season with 41 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 64 hits including 8 home runs, 22 walks and .506 OBP.
